Changing into water. He can change into whatever phase of matter he wants, so he could be a puddle, or a pile of ice cubes, or a cloud of vapor, for example. His powers only work in conjunction with his brother's; if Malik doesn't want him to change, he can't change.

h i s t o r y

Fadil was the oldest son of Hasim and Dima Zaidi -- by about ten minutes, at which point he was joined by his twin brother Malik. He wasn't the best son ever, but he did try to be, at least, and for the first ten years of his life, things were relatively normal -- until one day while his parents were taking him to an appointment, a crossfire erupted in the streets. Hasim and Dima were killed, and Fadil was only spared on account of his age.

He took it hard, and for a good four years he was considerably subdued. The twins were taken in by an aunt and uncle on their mother's side, and it was his aunt's influence that eventually helped Fadil come out of his slump and realize that maybe he would do more honor to his parents' memory by making the best he could of what he had rather than staying sad forever.

Once he reached that conclusion, however, there was no holding him back. His grades in school took a leap forward, and he managed to win a small but respectable scholarship to Al-Quds University, where he's now studying epidemiology. He's been living in an apartment with his brother for the past two years, and as far as he's concerned, life isn't going badly at all.

Well, that funny email about the end of the world aside, anyway.

p e r s o n a l i t y

"Always look on the bright side of life" might as well be Fadil's personal motto; he's an optimist at heart and believes in making the best out of the hand life deals him. Although he sometimes needs a little time to recover after being smacked upside the face with the bad news du jour, he's good at bouncing back once given a little time to collect himself and get his act together, and it only makes him all the more determined to make the most of things.

He's social to a point, or at least tries to be, but he has a timid streak that tends to manifest right after he dives into a conversation, and he's often left going back to things he's said and trying to explain that okay maybe he didn't quite mean that exactly but he was more going for this interpretation and you know what he means, right? He's animated in conversation -- even if half of that is him fidgeting and shifting his weight uncomfortably -- and he does enjoy talking to people, although he's not sure he's very good at saying what he wants to say the way he wants to say it.

He's not a natural genius, but nor is he naturally stupid, and his willingness to give his all in his studies makes up for what he lacks in natural intelligence. Not only his studies, really -- he's willing to put forth as much effort as it takes in anything he does, as he doesn't believe in doing things halfway.

He cares deeply about his brother, and is disappointed by Malik's attitude, but he doesn't think it's his place to pressure him to change, so he takes it in stride and hopes that maybe Malik will snap out of it someday.

Fadil stands about average height, with black hair in a short, messy cut and brown eyes. He sticks to plain but comfortable clothes, and his facial expression defaults to cheerful.
